Karikó Katalin Nobel-díjas magyar-amerikai kutatóbiológus, az SZTE kutatóprofesszora, a szintetikus mRNS alapú vakcinák orvosi technológiájának kifejlesztését felfedezéseivel megalapozó biokémikus.
A folyamatosan bővülő gyűjtemény tartalmaz családi fotókat, személyes tárgyakat és dokumentumokat, illetve sajtófotókat, melyek méltó módon mutatják be a mára világszerte ismertté vált Karikó Katalin életútját, az őt ért kezdeti hatásokat, az alma matertől kapott indíttatásokat és kutatásainak első időszakát.

A Nobel-bizottság külön engedélyével Karikó Katalin magyar orvosokkal és kutatókkal találkozott a stockholmi Történeti Múzeumban már december 5-én (Krausz Ferenc fizikai Nobel-díjas is meghívott volt, de ő nem érkezett meg, mert a szélsőséges időjárás miatt törölték Münchenben a járatát ). A program szervezője a Svédországi Magyar Orvosi Egyesület és Magyarország Stockholmi Nagykövetsége voltak. Müller Adrien nagykövet és Sebestyén Gábor SMOE elnök köszöntőjét követően a beszélgetést Csillag István professzor (Stockholmi Egyetem) mellett Jakab Ferenc virológus, a Pécsi Tudományegyetem professzora, a Nemzeti Laboratórium igazgatója moderálta.
